P232 Serum neutrophil gelatinase associated lipocalin (NGAL) as a marker of activity of Inflammatory Bowel Disease

Abstract Background Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) is a of activity and remission. Lipocalin 2 (LCN2), the coding gene for NGAL one most over-expressed genes in colonic mucosa ulcerative colitis (UC) crohn’s (CD). In our research we investigated utility serum level assessing IBD Methods This was single center case control study.It conducted on 60 patients, 50% (30 patients) were remission active.There about 28 healthy control. Patients with either UC or CD enrolled from clinic Mansoura specialized medical Hospital, Egypt. All patients group subjected to investigations including complete blood count (CBC) ,Erythrocyte Sedimentation Rate (ESR) ,C-reactive protein (CRP),Fecal calprotectin neutrophil gelatinase associated lipocalin (NGAL) by ELISA.Patients only sigmoidoscopy ileo-colonoscopy.The assessed MAYO score CDAI. Results showed significant increase among active mean± SD ng/ml (37.04 ± 9.63) than (20.65± 4.35).It highly correlation clinical endoscopic r= 0.80, P<0.0001. Serum can easily discriminate controls AUC 95% C.I =1.00 (0.94-1.0), at cutoff 18.52 , P< 0.0001, sensitivity 100% specificity 100%. While which those 26.95 0.97, 93.3% 93.3%. relation fecal calprotectin, there between (r=0.69 0.0001).Both CRP ESR positively correlated r=0.38 r=0.29 (P<0.05) respectively. Figure (1): ROC curve cases versus controls. Conclusion as well IBD. comparison other markers shows better statistical performance clarifies its ability be predictor besides lower cost.
